Die Stille wächst, systemische Malerei, Aquarell aus dem blauen Skizzenbuch, Euskirchen 2006
For the overhead projector performance Fastenzeit in St. Martin’s Church in Euskirchen, I worked out a (basic) ground, a form for how I would apply the paint to the projector. This sketch contains the idea of proceeding in a systemic way of painting, which I then did in the performances with Markus Goecke, cantor of St. Martin. It is a sensual process of applying the paint evenly crosswise, cross by cross from left to right, row by row. Here is the original idea. The brush picks up the ochre on its side and then dips into the ultramarine. The gradient creates millions of intermediate tones delicately framed by the ochre, which imposes a slightly grayish neutrality on the ultramarine through its complementary direction to the blue.
The number of exposures is reduced, the black point is increased, contrast and saturation are added to turn the pale motion sketch into a booming rich scribble, from which I have selected 4 areas.
The silence grows
