Sounds

Pixabay:

  • quiet conversation, murmur

  • pencil writing

  • paper movement

  • subtle breath

Technology, Setup, Accessories

  • 2 projectors

  • 2 transparent box planes

  • Material to block the light from the 2nd projector

  • Projector 1 is positioned at an angle of approx. 5° toward the back

  • Projector 1 is fitted with a catch tray

  • Projector 1 is aligned and its projection dimmed

  • Projector 1 is fitted with the two transparent boxes, one on the left and the other on the right; a gap forms in the middle, and they are angled toward each other at approximately 12°

  • Projector 2 is dimmed so that only the gap is illuminated, thereby blending the edges of the projection. This makes them invisible

  • Medium-viscosity paint is provided

Procedure

The sounds begin, and at the same time, paint is poured onto the outermost edges of both boxes, preferably with both hands at once. Due to the slanted position of the transparent boxes, the paint flows broadly from both sides toward the center, merging as it goes. Just as the speaker pauses to search for a word and the viewer expects the two colors to merge, the flow of paint breaks at the invisibly blended edge of both boxes and flows onto the projector surface, which is tilted backward. This creates a thick stream of two strands of paint flowing upward. The Lable phrase is spoken, and the lens is faded out with both hands.

Eine Ein-Minutenperformance mit Storyboard "im Rücken". Das stabilisiert und verliert den roten Faden nicht.
