What are Richscribbles?

Richscribble watercolors from johann franki's blue sketchbook follow the label 'Make big what you like'. All original sheets from the sketchbook were denied the contrasting "wash", the final overpainting that introduces the shadows to create depth and highlight the light areas, in order to avoid a restrictive color and design definition. This process is only carried out with editors on the PC during digital processing and thus preserves freedom of interpretation, which only receives its final definition in a separate print file.

Process

A high-resolution scan is made of the rich scribble and the digital result is interpreted and processed.

Now the most beautiful part of the work begins, because coherent, harmonious and exciting details are sought, which have a strong character as cut-outs, details are refined and finally scaled to the size of the DIN A1 format.

The 19th sheet from the blue sketchbook was mainly worked with tints of the three primary colors and thus has a bright and lively character.

A richscribble is an often overdrawn sketch from which I cut out appealing areas and process them further.

I was able to extract several sections from the scan of the sheet and scale them to a size of DIN A2 through digital processing.

Cockpit

Sheet 19 deals with the "stage" in the broadest sense. The theater stage often presents itself as a satirical critique, often also as a mirror of a contradictory society. But the stage is also Hollywood and cinema, television and advertising, the local pub and much more. The title 'Cockpit' is just one way of interpreting the image.

In the cockpit idea as a stage set, we see something that we could hardly see in reality, a cockpit from the front. Such an image idea could only have been staged, like in a movie. Surely there are now objections, such as that a cam could show the astronaut everything that is going on behind him. How likely would it be to provide space, weight and technology for this? At a time when artificial intelligence can create realistic images and film sequences, it is becoming increasingly important to ask such questions.
